Sauvignon Blanc 2004

In glass the wine shows a clean and brilliant pale straw colour with a hint of limey greenness around the rim.

A complex nose tends towards a greener cool climate style of Sauvignon Blanc. An upfront herbaciousness is followed by a bombardment of green pepper, fig leaves, star fruit and limey aromas, ending with a flintiness. This is an expression of the excellent climate and soil on which these grapes were grown.

The complexity of the nose is expressed on the pallet giving this wine a full, crisp and lively mouth-feel, with an after taste that lingers on the back of the pallet.

Analysis: Alc: 13.45% RS: 3.4 TA: 5.7 pH: 3.38

Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2004

Passion fruit, lemongrass and fig aromas introduce this extraordinarily complex wine. On the palate there is a wonderfully unusual combination of serious, intentful weight and minerally focus. The finish is at once persistent but ethereal, a hallmark of balance and elegance. This wine comes from a single vineyard in Elim, the southern most grape growing region in Africa.

Analysis: Alc: 13.5% RS: 3.5 TA: 6 pH: 3.38

Crafted Red Blend 2003

Cabernet Sauvignon 29%
Shiraz 27%
Pinotage 18%
Malbec 12%
Tinta Barroca 12%
Pinot Noir 2%

Welcoming cerise edge to a dark plum red colour. Cinnamon, nutmeg, mulberry and blackberry fruit all compete on the nose. A mouthfilling, soft explosion of dark red, brambly fruit, mint chocolate and the faintest hint of rosemary on the palate.

Analysis: Alc: 13.5% RS: 2.3 TA: 5.9 pH: 3.57

Pinot Noir 2003

In the glass this wine is the colour of just-ripe red nectarines. The nose is a combination of soft cherry fruit, rosehip, just ripe strawberries, bay leaf, caraway seed, crushed cashew nuts and a touch of fennel. On the palate there is a soft entry of cherries with mocha and vanilla with the underlying spiciness of Egyptian Dukhah. There is also a background hint of cedarwood shavings in an old cigar box.

Analysis: Alc: 14% RS: 1.7 TA: 6.2 pH: 3.38

Syrah 2002

The colour is deep, brooding, sultry red. On the nose - Indian spice, chocolates, vanilla and ripe juicy plum. This wine is a luscious, balanced combination of ripe mulberry, blackberry and cherry, framed with smoky, spicy wood. Delicious!

Analysis: Alc: 14.5% RS: 1.9 TA: 5.8 pH:3.68
